This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.

Apply today! Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the implementation of programs, events, park rentals, and allocations offered by the City of Avondale and in conjunction with outside organizations.
Specific duties may include:
Planning, organizing, and supervising the implementation of adult and youth sports programs offered by the City of Avondale and in conjunction with outside organizations; working with umpires, teams, and individual players; preparing fields, recording game scores, and standings and creating schedules.
Assisting the Recreation Coordinator with various City sponsored programs, special events, and activities; planning and implementation of leisure classes for the public; providing administrative support for the Parks and Recreation Department working with outside vendors, processing inquiries, rental, and field allocation requests.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions Assists in the coordination, promotion, and implementation of recreational activities such as special events, instructional classes, sports activities, and adult and youth programs.
Participates in the selection, training, and motivation, of part-time employees.
Assists in budget preparation; prepare cost estimates for program budgets and long-range forecasting.
Coordinates program schedules and field reservations.
Maintains awareness of new developments in the recreation field, and incorporates as appropriate into programs.
Creates social media campaigns, updates website, flyers, and email blasts to help market programs.
Works with the Recreation Coordinator to purchase supplies and equipment for programs.
Supervises the distribution, care, use, and maintenance of supplies and equipment for assigned programs.
Plans, implements, and coordinates a sponsorship program that will assist with supplementing program costs and connecting with the community.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration, or a closely related field or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and technical training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may qualify.
A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
One year of experience assisting in recreation, sports, supervision of staff, leisure class administration, and special events.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word & Publisher).
Requires valid Arizona Driver's License.
Must be able to pass a background check successfully.
Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire.
Bilingual skills in Spanish are highly desirable.
Supplemental Information Work requires the ability to read correspondence (i.
e.
e-mails) from the recreation office.
Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
Work requires the ability to write simple instructions and guides.
Must be able to work with citizens, students, or participants in accordance with recreation policies and procedures.
Work requires functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same work as those directed and include overseeing work quality, training, instructing, and scheduling work.
Within this job, the employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results.
The employee has some opportunity for discretion when making a selection among a few, easily identifiable choices.
The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
Employees must maintain regular attendance.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
